About

Handwritten About page on yellow notebook paper with pencil sketches.

I am an Orthodox Christian iconographer working in the U.S. I focus primarily on murals for the walls of churches. I also take commissions for other iconography, especially outdoor or larger-scale projects.

I work in a variety of media. I use egg tempera for most panel work. I specialize also in silicate paints, which I believe to be the best paint for walls or outdoor iconography in most cases.

I love the pastoral work of iconography. This means keen attention to the story behind a commission, and a sense of the commissioner’s particular walk with God. “Commission” is a sacred word. I look for beauty that is in harmony with, and transparent to the liturgical life and prayer of a community. And a quality of encounter that is not manipulative, but rather, is available to people in whatever state they may be in.
